Hello, my name is Christian...

Thank you for visiting our page! I am the founder of NaLa—short for Nativas Landscape—where we focus on providing services that facilitate people's connection with nature. We specialize in the use of plants native to the Sonoran Desert; consequently, we operate across a vast region spanning two countries—the U.S. and Mexico—and four states: Arizona, Sonora, Baja California, and Baja California Sur. I am originally from La Paz, BCS, and have been based in Tucson, Arizona, for over a decade. My explorations of the peninsula's rural areas fostered in me a deep love and respect for the region's unique flora and fauna, as well as for its people and culture. In Tucson, I found inspiration in utilizing the region's native plants for urban landscape design, as well as in rainwater harvesting and green infrastructure. In May 2025, I earned my Master of Landscape Architecture degree from the University of Arizona, where I also had the opportunity to work as a research assistant for Dr. Bo Yang. The research focused on public park usage and microclimates, as well as best practices for incorporating regional plants, irrigation systems, and green infrastructure into arid urban landscapes. Working as a teaching assistant for Professor Dr. Sandra Bernal, I was able to hone my skills as an educator and presenter on landscape architecture topics with students in the University of Arizona’s Sustainable Built Environments program, as well as those at the UPC microcampus in Lima, Peru. Another source of motivation for my work stems from my involvement—since 2022—as a board member of the Sky Island Alliance, a binational organization dedicated to protecting the environment and wildlife of the Sonoran Desert's mountain ranges on both sides of the border.
With NaLa, I hope to serve as an inspiration, support, and connector for people seeking to reconcile with nature, at all possible levels, with the goal of creating happier and more motivated communities that care for the environment.
Let's make it happen!
