Hello, my name is Christian...

Originally from the Baja California Peninsula, North and South, and settled in Tucson, Arizona, I consider myself fortunate to have been born and raised in the Sonoran Desert. My explorations in rural Baja California Sur fostered a deep love and respect for the region's unique flora and fauna, as well as its people. Upon my arrival in Tucson over a decade ago, I was inspired to garden with native plants and explore landscape designs centered on rainwater harvesting and other nature-based solutions. In May 2025, I graduated from the Master of Landscape Architecture program at the University of Arizona, where I also had the opportunity to work as a research assistant for Dr. Bo Yang, studying the use of public parks, their microclimates, as well as best practices for the use of regional plants, irrigation, and green infrastructure in arid urban landscapes. Working as an assistant to Professor Dr. Sandra Bernal, I was able to put my skills as a teacher and presenter of landscape architecture topics to work with students in the Sustainable Built Environments program at the University of Arizona and the microcampus at UPC in Lima, Peru. Another source of motivation is my participation as a board member since 2022, with the Sky Island Alliance, a binational organization working for the environment and wildlife of the Sonoran Desert mountains on both sides of the border.

With Nativas Landscape (NALA), I hope to serve as an inspiration, support, and connector for people seeking to reconcile with nature, at all possible levels, with the goal of creating happier and more motivated communities that care for the environment.
